Special Constable Suffers Fractured Jaw in High Street Assault

Two teenagers and a man have been arrested after two Special Constables were assaulted and seriously injured while dealing with an incident in Colchester.

 

The Special Constables and police officers had responded to a disturbance involving a group of men in High Street at 2.15am today, Sunday, January 13.

 

While dealing with the incident, one of the Specials was kicked, headbutted and stamped on. He is currently in hospital awaiting surgery for a fractured jaw.

 

The other suffered a broken nose and a split lip. He has since been discharged from hospital.
A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both from Clacton, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

 

A 17-year-old boy from Clacton was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
All three remain in custody for questioning. Police enquiries remain ongoing.

 

Witnesses and anyone with mobile phone or dash cam footage of the incident are asked to call Colchester CID on 101, quoting incident 129 of January 13.
