Essex based Law Firm Birkett Long have continued to perform random acts of kindness in the local community as part of their 200 year celebrations.

Colchester Zoo took delivery of sweet boxes from the firm as a thank you to their staff who have continued to work throughout the pandemic, ensuring the animals are cared for and that visitors can return as soon as they are permitted. This is vital to ensure that funding continues for the Zoo’s charity ‘Action for the Wild’ which assists conservation projects.

In the firm’s first random act of kindness, all St Helena Hospice staff received ‘calm kits’ containing The Happy Newspaper, chocolate, tissues, calm tea, sweets and mints which put a smile on the faces of this hardworking team.

Sarah Wilson, Fundraising Manager at St Helena Hospice said: “On behalf of everyone here at St Helena Hospice I want to say a big thank you to Birkett Long for thinking of us, at what has been a challenging time for everyone. We all really appreciate the calm kits, an act of kindness goes a long way and means so much.”

Last month, every employee at Birkett Long received a voucher from the firm to spend on a coffee or something sweet to encourage them to think about who they would like to treat over the coming year. The firm is looking forward to finding out who their staff are going to choose to benefit from their random acts of kindness and what surprises are in store for clients, business partners, employees and local communities over the coming months.

Martin Hopkins, Managing Partner said: “200 years’ experience has taught us that it’s not just about knowing the law. We care for our clients, for each other and for our communities and we hope that our random acts of kindness make a difference.”
