A scheme to put a smile on the face of the older generation in Colchester this Christmas has launched and is receiving an excellent response.
Local Colchester resident Alice Simpson has launched the “Elderly Christmas Shoebox Appeal” which is a project to fill lots of shoeboxes with great treats for those in the community who may otherwise not get much this year.
Alice has already had a brilliant response, receiving gifts from Bean and Boy soaps and Metro Bank in Colchester, as well as many other generous residents.
Working with the Colchester Community Group on Facebook, the Elderly Christmas Shoebox Appeal has attracted over 600 local people on this new group and has been receiving lots of donations towards the appeal from people donating items from the Amazon Wishlist.
Many local businesses have already pledged their support and any businesses that would like to get involved please do get in touch with Alice.
If you are able to put a box together there is a donation drop off – Birch, Colchester and Parsons Heath Colchester
If you know of a person that would like to receive a box please do let Alice know. If you are able to donate any items please get in touch on the link below.
